Body Shop or PDR?

There has been some conversation about customer's worries about PDR scratching the backside of a panel lately so I took some pictures to compare the differences between the pdr method and the method used by body shops. I guess that this is the number one reason that body shops give to their customers to try to keep them from getting pdr performed when they are questioned about it.

I made 3 dents in a panel and repaired one using the pdr method without any protection on the tool tip, one using the pdr method with a soft tipped tool and then I welded a stud on the third one as would be typical in a body shop.

As you can plainly see by the pictures below, welding a stud causes some pretty extreme damage to the back side of the panel.....
